Song Chronicles: Sweet dreams(are made of this)

Well like my previous article about the song In my place, this article will be dedicated to the song sweet dreams(are made of this)
Originally this is an old 1980s song by the electro rock band Eurythmics, but it was covered by the musician, Marilyn Manson, who is quite a controversial person. But after he covered this song, he gave a new dark, exciting and atmospheric edge to this average song, so that its level was elevated from the being a song which is average to a great song. Well the guitar intro of the song, when you listen to it will instantly catch your attention, though the intro being quite simple but inventive.

The song in general talks about the 21st century greed-ridden world. He talks about how each and every human on this planet has only one objective – intentionally or unintentionally to be used or to use. Every man seeks to complete his life goal, and this time he is not bound by any ideals or values. Musically all I can say is as compared to the original song, the synthesizer effect ,tuned down guitar give just enough punch to the song, even when the intro is based on a simple chord progression, which is played over and over again in a number of ways. After I listened to this song number of times the song took a strong hold on me, it changed my perspective of viewing this world. You start to suspect each and everything to be a part of “use and abuse” plan of someone else’s world. It reminded me of an age-old song by Paul McCartney the old Bond film anthem, “Live and let die”.
As I thought deeper and deeper, I had a moment of epiphany, that if this(use and abuse) weren’t happening in this world, then the world would have stuck in a time-stasis, which would not be feasible for anyone. If you do not use this mechanism, then at some point (an important point rather), you would yourself be abused/used for somebody’s use and abuse piece.
The sad conclusion I could draw from this was that we naive humans are driven on this evil path because we want to achieve something of value in this life, but the main question is, Is this achievement worth the bad deeds committed along our life journey, this song makes you think..
