We are ONE

Today is 15th August, 2014, and it is the 68thIndependence Day of India, it has being almost 68 years since we achieved our freedom, as usual I take this historic day to write something about the Indian youth, which I’m proud to be part of, and this particular song called as We are One by a band 12 Stones, exactly encapsulates the aspirations of the 21st century Indian youth.
The Lyrics says it all!!!
In 2014, the population of India mainly comprises of the youth. It has been a long time since we got our independence, but still we are a long way from being a developed country, in which the aspirations of the people are complete. It is our responsibility to take this great nation forward. The youth of this country has come a long way ahead of the tyranny of differentiation of religion and unjust caste system, which has plagued the Indian mindset for way too long, it is our responsibility to be secular and not differentiate people based on religion. It may seem to be somewhat of new concept, but it is our responsibility to move forward into this ‘unknown territory’. Still India has a long way to go for being a developed nation, and it is the youth who can carry the spirit of unity forward. We still haven’t really moved on from the colonial mindset that was imposed onto us for such a long time, and it is we who would bring our great nation out of this degenerative mindset. The real challenge that we face today, is how we drive our tomorrow, whether we choose to have the same mindset of our forefather who indirectly inherited the colonial mindset as a consequence of our colonial era or we choose to have a mind full of thoughts of the 21st century which call for unity, peace and to fill up the widening gap between the poor and the rich. It is we who choose between the 2 mindset and not run away from an important task at hand to drive this nation forward. The youth of India can play a vital role in changing such a mindset, moreover we also need to take care of the concept of accountability in our government, we shouldn’t adopt corrupt practices to get our work done, by doing this we indirectly support corruption which has infested the 21st century India.
We need to ensure that we ourselves remain incorrupt, and then and only then can we expect transparency and accountability in our government. There is no point in blaming the government to be corrupt, if we ourselves indulge into the gray areas of corruption. Though in the past we might have suffered from the tyranny which was committed by our so called ‘sacred’ caste system, but it is we who choose to lie in the past or show these sacred scars and move one from these mistakes. Sacred scars in the sense that we learn from our past mistakes and not commit the same mistakes again. Moreover it is our responsibility to see to it that the women in the 21st century India are safe and free to pursue their ambitions.
It is in our hands, the future of this great nation!!
By doing all this, we can ensure that India goes in the right direction of progress, it would also lay the path for India for becoming a developed nation and also be one of the superpowers in the world we ought to be. Wishing all my fellow Indian citizens a very happy Independence Day, and let’s take a pledge to take this great diversified nation called India forward.

Let’s be what we ought to be!!!

 Jai Hind!!!! 🙂

If I go crazy would you still call me – Superman

Today is 3rd August, and its friendship’s day, I take this opportunity to write something about friendship, by as usual referring to a song. This time the song of the day is Kryptonite, by the famous band 3 doors down.

Lyrics of the song

This song captured my attention when i was a teen, and it was the first song which got me into hard rock
music, and also subsequently into the band 3 doors down. In this world, friends are those people who carry you forward, make you feel wanted, and inshort make you happy. This song is specifically I think tailored made for friendship day. It is actually a conversation between 2 people, who are friends and it speaks about how their friendship grew in this selfish world. This life is designed in such a way rather, this world is made in such a way that it “troubles” your mind, you feel like walking off alone in this world so that you can “ease your pain”. But unfortunately, sometimes walking alone is not an opinion, and it is difficult to be alone. You will realize how important it is to have someone to share your thoughts with, and from there comes dear friendship. When in your life, you’re in trouble or when you’re at your lowest point, this world goes into the “dark side of moon”. And only then you realize that how difficult it is to survive alone on this “dark side”. It is this song doesn’t talk about this, rather it speaks about how sometimes you need to go “beyond you call of duty” to save someone who cares about you. But the whole thing about this friendship is that it has its own highs and lows, good times and bad times, sometimes unintentionally you do things that hurt your friends, but then it is at this time your friendship is tested, it is at this time you see the value of your friendship. Hurting people who care about you, is not a good thing, and these things happen unintentionally, because they are inevitable, but it is when you go “crazy” when you find out whether the person who cares about you worthy to be called your “Superman(friend)”. But it is not always in your hard times you need friends, you also need friends when you’re “alive and well” rather when you are happy. The real test for friendship is when the whole tide is against you, and how well you protect your friend/friends with your “Superhuman- kryptonite” is the real deal about friendship.

The second verse

As I said before, friendship has its own highs and lows, at some times in your life you need to help your friend when he/she is “weak”, and you need to be “strong”. Well there are times when you share your darkest secrets with your friends, and they share their “secrets” with you, and it is your responsibility to keep these secrets hidden and that tells you the strength of your friendship. Mistakes committed never go on one way, they go both the ways, and it is from these mistakes, when you learn to keep your friendship properly, when you learn to not take it “for granted”. For if it had not being for such situations, when you picked up your friend “back on solid grounds”, there would never be any friendship at all. Friendship involves helping your friend and keeping him rather making him/her stand his/her ground during these times of crisis.

  The main chorus!!!!

So let’s remember this day, when you respect and admire friends as “supermen and superwomen”, who helped you hold your ground in times of your crisis, and also be their supermen and superwomen who help them keep their feet on solid ground during their bad times. Wishing all my friends and friends all over the world a very happy friendship day!!!!
